I fully understand the complexity of packaging such a great device into such a small radio and I think it's awesome.
I do have a bit of difficulty in placing the radio in the drop in charger. Especially in the dark. The two slide in tabs have to be 'just right' for the charging connection. I prefer this method as opposed to the USB port. I've found that the USB C port has a tendency to become sloppy and worn from repeated use. Since it's not used as a consumer data port, I'd much rather a common barrel connection. That being said, the protective silicone skins are great as well. Very hard to put on for newbies but I found that if you hold off putting the belt clip on, it's much easier. You can even use the clip as a tool to get that last corner to slip on and only then attach the belt clip. Lastly, I wish there was a means of still using the drip in charger with the skin on. Since I am reviewing, I might as well continue. There is no playback of last call or at least who was the last to transmit in your group. A list of members currently logged in would also be nice. The S.O.S. function works. Accidentally set it off and all my other radios were alerting when I got home. Also maybe a little better explanation of PRIVATE & VOICE CALLS should be made.
Voice calls require no PTT and act much like a phone call. Both parties can talk and listen at same time whereas Private calls require use of the PTT button but aren't being broadcast to the group. I've put all my devices through rigorous testing and am totally impressed. Beep-Beep sounds for EOT and notifications would be nice to set to our liking or be able to change. I currently talk across the Atlantic from south central Florida to a friend in South U.K. He as well as myself are so satisfied with clarity, seamless switch of carriers , that is convinced his company to buy some for the drivers. The audio is exemplary compared to other POC. Noice cancellation is by far, excellent. No road noise driving about with windows down. Does not rebroadcast a radio in the background. And speaker output is by far the best. Neither of us ever go over a 3 setting. Quite powerful. Of all my amateur radios and others this is proving to be an additional EDC. Very lightweight and comfortable. Compact enough for not weighing down a dirt pocket or clipping to your collar, if you choose. A bit finicky with some of my BT options, but I'm not complaining. Thank for a great product. I will continue to recommend these to all my friends. No really need to mention the lifetime sim as that is a major plus too. At least for as long as you stay in business. Let's hope for years to come.
